Road Safety Resources and Training

Every employer has a duty to protect the health, safety and welfare of their employees. To this end, employers have a duty to do whatever is reasonably practicable to ensure that the workplace is safe, and this includes when employees are driving on company business.

One in three deaths on UK roads involves a vehicle being driven for work purposes. In order to help employers improve the safety of employees who drive in the course of their work, the road safety charity Brake, with the support of the Department for Transport, has assembled a resource pack containing practical tools for enhancing safety on the road. A programme of online safety seminars is also available.

Employers with employees who drive on company business are strongly advised to make them aware of the applicable law and to ensure that their road safety policies include a warning not to contravene the latest Highway Code.
