Energy Performance Certificates

Home Information Packs were abolished by the Government in the Localism Act 2011. However the requirement for a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which ranks the energy efficiency of a home with an A to G rating, still remains. Energy Performance Certificates are part of EU legislation and as such will have to be retained.

If you are selling your house you must provide a valid Energy Performance Certificate to interested parties at the earliest opportunity - your estate agent must have confirmation that the EPC has been commissioned before they start to market the property.  EPC's are valid for ten years.

If you are renting out a property you must have a valid EPC before new tenants let the property.

Scott Rowe can arrange for an Energy Inspector to come round and assess your property should you need an EPC. The cost of this is generally between £50-£80.
