Home Information Packs

Before you even put your home on the market you must purchase a Home Information Pack. These packs are designed to stop the 'falling through' of many property sales due to problems only coming to light after an offer has been made and accepted.

A HIP Pack contains such information as the title documents for the property, some essential searches and an energy performance certificate (which is a report on how energy efficient your house is). It can also contain additional information like copies of your lease, if applicable, and guarantees for building work.

Most properties are now required to have a HIP before they can be marketed. A property can only be marketed once a Home Information Pack has been ordered.

Though Home Information Packs sound scary they are nothing to worry about.
