Change of Name

Our family law solicitor is able to assist adult’s to change their name and to provide advice and assistance in relation the changing the name of a child

Adult Change of Name

An adult is able to change their name by the execution of a Change of Name Deed. Here at Scott Rowe our family law solicitor is able to assist in the preparation of a Change of Name Deed and the execution of it so as to lead to a legally recognised document that will change your name to your chosen new name.

Child Change of Name

A child’s name can be changed in certain specific circumstances. If all those who hold parental responsibility for a child agree to the change of name then this can be done by way of a Change of Name Deed. Our family law solicitor is able to assist in the preparation and execution of such a Deed so as to lead to a legally recognised document that will change the child’s name.

If there is not the agreement of all those with parental responsibility then our family law solicitor can advise on the application to the Court that would be necessary to change a child’s name in those circumstances. We can advise on the merits of such an application, prepare the necessary documentation and provide representation at hearings for what is known as a Specific Issue Order.

We can also advise and represent  a person with parental responsibility who opposes a child’s name being changed. This may include advising and representing them in relation to an application to the Court for a Specific Issue Order.
